Call to Action - Protect Berczy Park Encampment

Updated: Sep 21

the City of Barrie is once again threatening to illegally evict an encampment - witnesses are requested

(Edited to add: the eviction did not take place on the 6th, but could still take place any day - there has been no rescinding of the notice)

Call to Action

The Berczy Park encampment in Barrie is set to be cleared on Friday (September 6), having received a 72-hour eviction notice. If anyone can go witness this and document it with cameras and videos, please get down there on Friday if you can.

This is a violation of the encampment residents' Charter rights. There is nowhere else for them to go and per a ruling from Waterloo Region this is necessary to permit an eviction, and the City knows that.
