This meeting was primarily ceremonial, inducting the new City Council to office.

The members-elect and Justice of the Peace Brian Norton were piped into the Council Chamber by P. Ried of the Barrie Pipes and Drums. The National Anthem was sung by Jax Bruen from the Emerging Artist Program.

His Worship Brian Norton administered the Declaration of Office to Alexander Nuttall for Office of the Mayor, and placed the Chain of Office on Mayor Nuttall. Norton then administered the Declaration of Office to all Councillors-elect:

Ward 1 Clare Riepma

Ward 2 Craig Nixon

Ward 3 Ann-Marie Kungl

Ward 4 Amy Courser

Ward 5 Robert Thomson

Ward 6 Nigussie Nigussie

Ward 7 Gary Harvey

Ward 8 Jim Harris

Ward 9 Sergio Morales

Ward 10 Bryn Hamilton

The special guests were acknowledged, and the guests of the new members of Council.

The mayor provided his Inaugural address (noted as being attached to the minutes, but not currently available on the city's Legistar site).

As has become tradition, members of each Council member's families were invited to present them with lapel pins.

And finally, the newly-sworn-in Council passed their first bylaw – the Confirmation Bylaw for the evening's proceedings.
