• Seeking to rezone from 'General Commercial' (C4) and 'General Commercial with Site-Specific Provisions' (C4)(SP-264) to 'Mixed Use Node with Site Specific Provisions' (MU1)(SP-XXX)

• Special Provisions:

  • reduce minimum coverage for commercial uses from 20% to 8%

  • allow front yard landscaping to not be fully paved

  • allow encroachment of 1.5m into the front yard for accessory buildings and structures

• Facilitating immigrant settlement and integration into the community

• Of note: during the question period afterwards, Deputy Mayor Thomson used certain results of the immigration survey (which showed that immigrants were having difficulty finding work, at the same time that employers were having difficulty with labour shortage) to somewhat aggressively try to justify the proposed annexation of employment land from Barrie's neighbours - a tenuous connection, at best.
