  • Providing the results of the public survey to obtain community feedback on the City's Community Safety and Well-Being Plan

    • Although we always applaud the City gathering community feedback, we received several comments from people who didn't see what information the survey was supposed to help gather, were frustrated with the vagueness of the questions, and/or noted that none of the questions were actually about the Plan, so were confused by the title.

‼️⚕️ Declarations of Emergency for Homelessness, Mental Health and Opioid Addiction

  • Fort Erie supports the Region of Niagara's Declarations of Emergency for Homelessness, Mental Health and Opioid Addiction, as well as requesting:

    • allocating a model for homelessness based on the results of the Auditor General 2021 report

    • that the province immediately commit to fully funding gaps in mental health services

    • urging the federal government to convene a task force to explore the legal regulations and decriminalization of all drugs in Canada

    • targeted advocacy to be conducted in these areas

    • the federal government declare homelessness as a humanitarian crisis
