Council is back! But we're going to continue publishing the circulation list separately. The Council meeting originally scheduled for Monday the 19th has been switched to Wednesday the 21st, out of respect for the Queen's funeral.

👨💼🪝 Removal of Councillors
Correspondence from McGarry Township: https://barrie.legistar.com/View.ashx?M=F&ID=11235078&GUID=E9BBA354-3ED1-420A-A3E2-81A55F33529C
"Whereas across municipal councils in Ontario there have been appalling instances of misogyny and hatred...", McGarry Council is asking the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing to study the merits of allowing the recall of municipal councillors under carefully prescribed circumstances, including displays of hatred, misogyny and all forms of discrimination, as well as facilitate strengthened and ongoing orientation and training sessions for Councils, local boards, and committees.
We are very happy to see that the Township of McGarry supports these actions, however we would have hoped that they also support Bill 5, which is already in front of the province, after receiving unanimous support in second reading in the previous provincial term.
