Engage Barrie Organization's Annual Members Meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 25 at 5:30pm. This year's Members Meeting will be fully virtual, at https://meet.google.com/zqg-qbvz-tvt - our regular bi-monthly members get-together will take place following the official business.
The Annual Members Meeting is the time for members to elect new directors to the Board, and approve the annual Financial Statements. As per the applicable legislation, there will also be an extraordinary resolution to waive the requirement for an audit or review engagement in the coming year (as our organization does not bring in enough money to meet the threshold of requirement for either process).
Voting Details
If you cannot attend the meeting, but wish to have your votes counted, our Bylaws state that all voting members are entitled to vote by proxy. Please contact us at admin@engagebarrie.org or visit the Members Forum for a proxy form and instructions on how to designate a proxyholder to vote on your behalf.
All members should be receiving an email closer to the date, indicating whether they are considered voting ("Contributing") or non-voting ("General") members. Please contact us at admin@engagebarrie.org if you haven't received this email by November 20, to ensure everything is in order for your participation.
Contributing Members have voting rights – these are generally those who have been contributing to the organization in the past year (not necessarily financially – being part of committees, contributing blog posts, sharing our campaigns, etc., are all considered active contributions), although elected Council members may not be considered voting members (even if they have contributed to the organization).
General Members are welcome to attend the meetings and join the discussion, but do not have voting rights.
All members may make a request to the Board to be transferred to or from the Contributing Members (voting) class - we have no desire to be exclusive about the classes, we just want to ensure quorum at our official Member Meetings.
Election of Directors
Three Directors' terms are coming to an end (Sarah Jensen, James Kerekes and Alyssa Wright), which means that three new directors will be elected at this year's AGM (terms are staggered, so there is some continuity from one year to the next). Rob Romanek's and Brandon Rhéal Amyot's terms extend for another year.
As per our Board Eligibility Policy, any voting member of Engage Barrie Organization may also put their name forward as a candidate for the Board of Directors. Interested members may contact the Board at admin@engagebarrie.org, or put their name forward at the AGM (in advance is preferable, to confirm eligibility and ensure you have a full picture of what you'd be signing up for).
Confirmed Candidates for Election (to date):
Sara Dawson
We're looking forward to seeing you on the 25th!
Alyssa, James, Brandon, Rob and Sarah (The Board)
