Introducing: Your 2025-26 Board of Directors

Engage Barrie Organization is happy to announce that at last week's Annual Members Meeting, Sara Dawson was elected to join Rob Romanek and Brandon Rhéal Amyot as your 2025-26 Board of Directors.

Sara has been involved in EBO since our pre-incorporation days, and has been a Contributing Member and valuable member of our Elections Committee.  You can usually spot her, rain or shine, on her bakfiets cargo bike, kids happily along for the ride.  She’s a passionate advocate for active transportation, and creating a more equitable, vibrant, and welcoming city.  She brings a firsthand understanding of systemic challenges many in our community face.  We’re looking forward to her new ideas and energy on the Board.

We would like to express our immense gratitude to outgoing Directors Sarah Jensen, James Kerekes (Secretary), and Alyssa Wright (Treasurer, Founding Chair).  EBO would not be the organization it is without their contributions, friendship and humour.  A special thank-you must go out to Alyssa as the longest contributing board member and a key founding member.  We look forward to their ongoing engagement as Contributing Members.  (“You can run but you can’t hide”, added Rob – demonstrating that EBO Board humour will carry on, despite the Director turnover.)

Brandon will be this year’s Chair, with Rob taking the role of Secretary, and Sara jumping in as Treasurer.  The month of December will be spent transitioning from the outgoing to the incoming Board, and brainstorming about the year ahead.

This term’s primary focus will of course be on the upcoming municipal elections, but the new Board would like to hear from you, our members, about what else you’d like to see from EBO this year?  With only three Directors this term, we will be necessarily scaling back on some of our day-to-day activities, and want to make sure that we prioritize what is most important to our membership.
